Joint Catholic-Anglican school wins approval

APPROVAL has been granted for a Catholic school in Derbyshire to become a joint Catholic and Church of England school from September 2006.

The Derbyshire School Organisation Committee unanimously supported the move to make St Joseph's Catholic School in Staveley a two-denominational establishment.

Frank McDermott, direc tor of schools for the Catholic Diocese of Hallam, presented the proposals with Alison Brown, adviser for the Anglican Diocese of Derby, on behalf of their diocesan trustees. "The new school will ensure that the education it offers is fully supportive of the Catholic and Anglican traditions," they said in a statement.
