Printers Want Central Council of Catholic Guilds

The Printers' Guild of St. John has been recognised by the Hierarchy of England and Wales as the national organisation for Catholics engaged in the printing and allied trades.

This decision, arrived at during the Low Week meeting of the Hierarchy, was conveyed in a letter from the Guild's patron (Cardinal Hinsley) and read by the Master (Mr H. P. R. Finberg) at the annual congress held in Westminster on Sunday. Previously the Guild had only been recognised in the Westminster and Southwark Dioceses.

A report of progress was given by the Master, who also stated that relations between the Guild and the various trade unions and employers' federations in the trade were most cordial.
