UNIVERSITY DEGREES

OXFORD HONOUR FOR CARDINAL
At the coming Encxnia at Oxford University the honorary degree of D.C.L. is to be conferred on Cardinal Seredi.
Cardinal Seredi, who is a Benedictine, is the Archbishop of Esztergom and the Prince-Primate of Hungary. He was Pontifical Legate at the Eucharistic Congress in Budapest in 1928 and came to England more recently in a similar capacity for the consecration of the abbey church at Downside.
LONDON TO HONOUR MGR. HINSLEY
The centenary of the University of London is to be marked by Catholics, on the religious side, at the high Mass in Westminster Cathedral on June 28, when the Archbishop of Westminster will assist and preach. The Mass, it is expected, will be attended by a large academic representation.
On the following day the university is conferring on Mgr. Hinsley the honorary degree of doctor of literature. Here again there is sure to be a considerable gathering, of which, it is hoped, as many members as possible of the University of London Catholic Society will • form part.

The speaker was concerned to defend the ordinary journalist from the implication that he shared in the deplorable money control of the press. He pleaded for an order of journalists of as high a standing as the organisations to which doctors and lawyers belonged.
Reporting of Trials
Earlier the same speaker quoted the example of Belgium, Italy and Sweden, where the reporting of crime and of criminal trials is strictly controlled. A simple communique of the course of the trial should be sufficient, he held.
