THE SON of the Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy and his wife Sarah has been baptised in a Catholic service in the Houses of Parliament.
Fr Michael Seed, ecumenical adviser to Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, conferred the baptism in the chapel of St Mary Undercroft. He was assisted by Canon Robert Wright, the chaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons.
Donald James Kennedy was born on April 12 at St Thomas’ Hospital, London. The music for the service was provided by Mr Kennedy’s mother (on the organ) and father (on the fiddle). The music included “Be Thou My Vision” and a traditional folk tune that appeared in the film Braveheart.
