DAILY MASS GUIDE

SUN. NOV. 13. TWENTYFOURTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST. Mass of the Sixth Sunday after Epiphany. ad. Comm. of St. Didacus. Third prayer: conchs. Creed. Preface of Trinity. (Green.) COLLECT: " Grant, we pray Thee. Almighty God, that we, ever practising what is reasonable, may carry out. both in word and deed, what is pleasing WelooTftehneehear it said that the world has gone mad and people are always doing what experience shows can lead only to the worst. The main reason of course is that we find it so much easier to let ourselves be dictated to by politicians who never take God into account at any time. A small example: a little rock is discovered in the ocean. Whoever thinks of naming it after a Saint? You read book after book of travel and find Fatima dismissed in a line, e.g. " It was sad to see the troops of ragged peasants kneeling in the dust." I remember the canonisation of St. Thomas More, the broadcast commentary on which gave no single indication that the Martyr made his choice ultimately on spiritual grounds alone.

To act " reasonably " sounds so chill and opposed to all enthusiasm which is in fact sure to be called fanaticism. Still. that is what God likes! He shows us how to live not according to a dead religious routine but

according to the impulse of the Holy Spirit who alone can teach us what is truly reasonable and pleasing to God even if it seems exaggerated to men.
