CARPENTER SISTERS

TWO nuns are working side by side with other students. at the L.C.C.'s Shoreditch and Finsbury Women's Institute, attending even, classes in woodwork.

They are Sister Aloysius and Sister John, members of the Helpers of the Holy Souls, a congregation which visits the sick and aged poor. They are making furniture for Holy Rood Convent, Camden Town, London, and have already completed a typist's desk, a secretariat, a wardrobe, an ironing hoard and a plate rack. They are now making oak stools for the chapel.

For Sister Aloysius woodwork is almost a full-time occupation. She has her own work bench at the convent and does much of the carpentry and running repairs.
