—on May 15, 1931— Pope Pius X1 issued his celebrated Encyclical " Quadragesimo Anno," on the Reconstruction of the Social Order.
This Papal letter continned and brought up to date the famous and "revolutionary " Encyclical "Rerum Novarum " of Pope Leo XIII, which became known all over the world as " The Workers' Charter."
Here—
Sir Toni O'Brien
Former Chairman of the Trades Union Congress in an interview with 'The Catholic Herald'
tells what these two Encyclicals have achieved for the workers particularly in Britain, Europe and the United States — and how they establish the moral principles upon which workers everywhere depend for their real security.
