PASTORAL LITURGY

British delegates to Assisi Congress

THE Hierarchy of England and Wales have appointed an official delegation to attend the International Conference on Pastoral Liturgy to he held in Assisi and Rome from September 18 to 22.

The delegation will he led by Archbishop Grimshaw of Birmingham, who will be accompanied by Bishop Petit of Menevia.

Other members of the delegation include Fr. Ronald Pilkington, Chairman of the Vernacular Society, Fr. Joseph Connelly, of Oscott College, Birmingham, and Fr. John O'Connell.

The conference will culminate in a Papal audience at which the Holy Father is expected to give a major address.

PAPAL ADDRESS

This will be the most imposing liturgical congress ever held.

Presiding at the discussions in Assisi will he Cardinal Cicognen'. Prefect of the Sacred Congregation of Rites—which watches over the ceremonies of the Roman Rite—and he will be accompanied by five other Cardinals.

Many Bishops and liturgical specialists in Europe and America have been invited to co-operate in the congress.

The congress is being sponsored by the four prinicipal centres of the liturgical movement in Europe— the Liturgical Action Centre in Rome, the Pastoral Liturgical Centre In Paris, the Liturgical Institute of Trier, Germany, and the Liturgical Centre in Lugano, Switzerland.
