To mark the celebration of the twelfth centenary of St. Bede, which takes place on May 27, the Pope has honoured the Bede College, Rome, by presenting to the rector, Mgr. C. L. H. Duchemin, on behalf of the college, hisown palm which is presented to him every year Oft Palm Sunday by the head of the papal household. His Holiness has also conferred a special blessing on the college and sent his good wishes. Another Bede student, the Rev. C. W. D. Carter, has just been ordained priest at the archbasilice. of St. John Lateran. Fr. Garter was formerly a member of the Anglican Benedictine community on the Gold Coast of Africa for eight years, and will work in the dioceso of Wes Unineter.
