Both I in my leading article, and Simon Caldwell in his news story and feature article made it clear that we were writing not about the local groups of which Age Concern, Aberystwyth is one, but about Age Concern England, in Caldwell's words, "the campaigning arm of the charity, which acts independently from the local branches ". It does not surprise me that Mrs Murphy repudiates what Age Concern England is now doing She cannot blame The Catholic Herald that the "Debate of the Age" β a transparent pro-Euthanasia campaign βis now causing difficulty at local level The remedy is in her own hands. As I said in my leading article (not the only article which Mrs Byrne appears not to have read), "Those who in local branches and affiliated organisations take a different view should be aware of what they are supporting and act accordingly". That remains my advice. β Editor
