NEW MOVES

By ANN KIMMEL CATHOLIC peace corps project is one of three major steps decided on this week to increase Catholic aid to underdeveloped countries. Describing them as "a big step forward," Bishop Grant, Auxiliary of Northampton, said they showed "an enormous change in the Catholic attitude towards developing countries during the past three years."

The three moves, which mark the beginning of a greatly enlarged Catholic contribution to overseas aid and development, are: 1. The Catholic Institute for International Relations, known until two weeks ago as the Sword of the Spirit, is to set up a peace corps project to send volunteers to the emerging countries.

") The Institute has also decided to join seven other agencies '1".. in a non-denominational committee to encourage overseas aid and development.

3 The British Hierarchy and CAFOD, the Catholic Fund for Overseas Development, have given f5,000 for volunteers abroad.
