Bishops attack Chavez church

THE VENEZUELAN bishops' conference has criticised a newly formed church that openly backs President Hugo Chavez. The Reformed Catholic Church, composed of Anglicans, Catholics and Lutherans, has a following of several thousand.

But the country's Catholic bishops' conference has described the founders as "delinquents" and accused them of seeking to divide the Church.
