Bishop Piguet, of C 1 e r m an t Ferrand, who died last week at the age of 65, was awarded high French decorations for his work as a stretcher bearer during the first World War, and as a victim of Nazi persecution during the last war.
His home became a refuge for many priests, and he was arrested and sent to the Dachau concentration camp.
