From Miss Deborah Jones
Sir, Martin Marprelate is to be thanked for his Lamb's Passage coverage last week (albeit typically barbed!) of the latest issue of The Ark, journal of the Catholic Study Circle for Animal Welfare.
He is no doubt aware that our new MP patrons, Ann Widdecombe and Jackie Lawrence, share concern for animal welfare with Pope John Paul II who, when once asked "Holy Father, do not forget the animals", replied immediately: "I do not forget them. They have need of our help. They are close to us, too, when they suffer."
The needs of all creatures are very great, often through human cruelty or neglect, and members of the CSCAW do what they can through study, prayer and support for a variety of peaceful causes. A free copy of the latest Ark will happily be sent to all Catholic Herald readers who write to me.
