India's sixtieth Bishop

India's 60th Bishop, Mgr. Joseph Parekkattil, Auxiliary of Ernakulam, has been consecrated here by Cardinal 'I isserant, Dean of the Sacred College and Secretary of the Sacred Congregation of the Eastern Rites.
The ceremony was held in the grounds of St. Mary's Cathedral, Ernakulam. in the presence of many members of the Indian Hierarchy and a great gathering of people including the new Bishop's parents. The Mass and the Consecration were in the Latin rite although the new Bishop belongs to the SyroMalabar rite.
No snow here . . .
The big new church of St. John the Evangelist, opened by Archbishop Vehr in Denver last week has a slanting flnnr so that the congregation may better see the altar, a glass panelled "crying room" for infants, and electric heaters in the concrete paths leading to the church to melt ice and snow.
