67 Per Cent. of British Voters Want Family Allowances

" Would you favour a system of family allowances, parents receiving a money grant for each child after the second or third? " " Yes," replied 67 per cent. of Britain's voters, according to the British Institute of Public Opinion, which has just carried on inquiry into family allowance:.

The results of the inquiry were published in the "News Chronicle" on Monday.

The " Yes " was most emphatic among people of the lower income groups, 75 per cent. of whom were in favour of family allowances. In the higher income groups only 47 per cent. were in favour, and in the medium income groups, 59 per cent.

On the average, 9 per cent. of people questioned had no opinion about family allowances and this lack of decision (or knowledge) was 3 per cent. more among higher income groups than lower income groups.
