Priest they met had been ex-communicated

A Communist report from Peking mentioned that two priests were among the delegation of "Chinese Christian leaders" who greeted the British Labour Party delegation headed by Mr. Attlee.

What the Communists did not report was that one of the priests had been excommunicated And that the

other was a "Progressive Church"

leader in bad standing with his

superiors.

Fr. Li Yin-tao was excommunicated and his church was put under an interdict after he joined and promoted the Communist-sponsored "Reformed Church."

The other priest is Fr. Ma Wenchute rector of the Tungtang church.

None of the other Catholic priests in Peking. free or in jail, were presented to the delegates.
