300 rose trees for Stopsley's Lourdes shrine

Three hundred rose trees will be planted this autumn around a Lourdes shrine erected by men of the parish in the grounds of the Sacred Heart Church at Stopsley, Luton.

The shrines which was blessed on Sunday, represents the grotto at Lourdes and is to commemorate Our Lady's Year and the centenary of the declaration of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception.

A white-stone statue of Our Lady and one of St. Bernadette have been given by an anonymous donor. The opening of the shrine started three days of prayer for Mr. Thomas Foster, a sick pilgrim from the parish who has gone to Lourdes.
