Led by Archbishop Patrick Kelly of Liverpool and Anglican Bishop James Jones of Liverpool, co-presidents of Hope, the inaugural ceremony for Professor Gerald Pillay was attended by VIP guests, staff and students at Hope Park.

Professor Pillay comes to Liverpool Hope University College from Otago University in New Zealand, where he held the position of head of the School of Liberal Arts.

Professor Pillay, 49, said: "Liverpool Hope University College is unique in its ecumenical foundation, its mission to offer quality university education enriched by Christian values."
