ITALIAN PRISONERS WRITE HOME One Vatican Packet Contains 35,000 Names

VATICAN CITY.

Increasingly abundant information reaching Vatican City from East Africa in the last few weeks about the status of prisoners of war and missing persons, included a single packet containing lists of 35,000 names of civilian residents to whom news and greetings were being sent by Italian prisoners of war.

The packet, most important of all the communications received to date, was sent by Mgr. Marinoni, O.F.M. Cap., Vicar Apostolic of Eritrea, The Vatican Information Bureau, in this as in all other cases, examined the lists carefully to avoid duplication and then communicated with each family by a telegram signed by the Cardinal Secretary of State.
