ALLIED TROOPS ATTEND ST. FRANCIS' FEAST AT ASSISI

Oil for the votive lamp of St. Francis, from Naples, is carried in procession from the Town Hall in Assisi to the basilica of St. Francis. Heralds of Assisi in medieval costume head the procession. The climax of the four-day ceremonies in honour of St. Francis was reached at midnight on October 3, when the bells of the city sounded for a High Mass celebrated by an American priest, Fr.
