All Saints' Colleges, affiliated with the University of Leeds, are planning a multidisciplinary course on "The Care of the Handicapped" to bring together those with special expertise in medicine, social care and education.
They have already established an annual lecture on the subject of the handicapped in memory of Stanley Segal, the former Principal of Ravenswood Village for the Mentally Handicapped. In delivering the lecture, Dr Thomas , Weihs, of the Rudolf Steiner Camphill Schools, stressed that tending the handicapped was not a one-way relationship: the handicapped were capable of giving as well as receiving. He added that in a world intent on buying man's labour or affection, we could learn from the indiscriminate affection and total lack of moneys sense of the mogol.

A 24-hour Vigil of Hope and Prayer for Truth and Freedom will be held in St Martin in the Fields Church, London, from 8 am next Thursday to 8 am on Friday to remember and pay tribute to those who have struggled and died for justice in South Africa. During the vigil, short devotional addresses will be given by Bishop David Konstant, Bishop in Central London, Bishop Trevor II uddleston, Anglican Archbishop cf Stepney and others.
More than 1,200 young people gathered at Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex, on Whit Sunday for a day of prayer and reflection. The day, which was the first ecumenical youth event of its kind to be held in Essex wasted by Cardinal Hume and Bishop John Trill°, Anglican Bishop of Chelmsford. The Bradford Catholic Players will celebrate their golden jubilee with a special Mass concelebrated by Bishop Wheeler of Leeds and Bishop Moverly, Auxiliary of Leeds, at St Joseph's Church, Parington Street, Bradford at 5pm next Thursday. The Players, a charitable organisation raising money through musical shows and concerts, produced their first show "A Nautical Knot" at St Joseph's in November, 1927. More recent productions have included "Guys and Dolls" and "The Grand Duchess" which raised more than £500 for charity.
The Girl Guides Association held three open days at their Commonwealth Headquarters in London this week. They were organised to coincide with the Royal Jubilee and also marked the diamond jubilee of the Ranger Guide Section. Exhibitions included a display of photographs of the Queen; Princess Margaret, President of the Girl Guides Association; and other members of the Royal Family when they were Brownies, Guides or Rangers.
A public meeting entitled "Alcoholism—and a Road to Recovery" will be held at St George's Church Centre, Bridge Street West, New Town, Birmingham, on June 16 at 7pm. The meeting has been arranged by Alcoholics Anonymous, and speakers include Dr M. M. Gant Members of the medical, nursing, police and social services will be particularly welcome.
Heenan House, a new wing of St Joseph's Hospice, Mare Street, Hackney,' London, was opened by Cardinal Hume this week. The centre provides residential rehabilitation and resettlement facilities for the physically handicapped, and short-term periods of residence for handicapped people who need occasional residential rare.
A Mass of Thanksgiving for the centenary of the foundation of the Institute of the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and for the canonisation of their founders and St Raphaela was concelebrated by Cardinal Hume and 30 priests at the Church of Our Lady, Ltsson Grove, • St John's Wood, London, last week.
