THE VATICAN may be going into the worldwide television business in the not-toodistant future, according to a prediction in L'Osservatore Della Domenico, the Vatican weekly magazine,
It said that current technology would not permit the Vatican to transmit widely without going to great expense and seeking hard-to-get government permissions. "But it will be a different story when a satellite system is developed to permit transmitting directly to every home," the magazine said. "Then there will also be a Vatican television."
According to recent reports, the technology for an economical satellite transmission system has already been developed and its realisation is only a matter of time.
