FILM INSTITUTE. — The Society of St. Paul has been

asked by the Bishops to undertake the work of the Catholic Film Institute for two years from February 1. Fr. Dominic Twanley will be ecclesiastical assistant. While remaining with the National Catholic Centre for Radio, TV and Cinema, the institute will have a wide range of independence. Fr. J. A. V. Burke will continue to advise.
CTF CONFERENCE. — The Catholic Teachers' Federation will hold its first national conference on the teaching of religion at De La Salle College of Education, Hopwood Hall, Manchester, in Low Week next year. The booking secretary is Mr. W. T. Glynn, 78, St. John's Road, Old Trafford, Manchester 16.
AID FROM “TWANG:r — St. Andrew's Hospital at Dollis Hill, run by nuns of the Little Company of Mary is to benefit from a preview of the Lionel Bart musical "Twang!!" at the Shaftesbury Theatre, London, tomorrow week. Proceeds will go towards the hospital's £450,000 expansion plans. Tickets are available from the Appeal Secretary, St. Andrew's Hospital, Dollis Hill Lane, N.W.2.
SECRETARY RETIRES. — A cheque for £1,500 raised by public subscription was presented to Mr. Cyril Clancy on his retirement last week as general secretary of Southend Guild of Help and Citizens' Advice Bureaux, Essex. During his 10 years as secretary, he founded three bureaux at Benfleet, Canvey and Rayleigh and has trained over 200 voluntary workers. For seven years he was formerly secretary of Warrington Council of Social Service and Advice Bureau. He will live in retirement in North Wales.
TOC H VIGIL — Catholics are to take part for the first time in the annual Toe H vigil to be held up and down the country on the night of December 11-12. The Catholic All Night Vigil Group will spend an hour of the vigil at All-Hallowsby-the Tower, the London Anglican church near Toe H headquarters.
SCOTS ADVICE COUNCIL. —Scotland's first Catholic Marriage Advisory Council is now functioning in Edinburgh. Staffed by a panel of experts, it is qualified to deal with every aspect of marriage and marital problems. Headquarters are at 34, Chalmers Street, Edinburgh.
STAGE GUILD SHOW.— Tickets for the Catholic Stage Guild's annual show to be held at Drury Lane on February 20 are available this year only from the Guild,at 39-42 Bond Street, W.1. Cardinal Heenan has promised to attend, and the compere will again be Jack Cruise. The cast, which is expected to include The Bachelors, is still being assembled.
SEMINARY LIFE.—A film on the life in a seminary has been made at St. John's Seminary, Wonersh, near Guildford, Surrey. Archbishop Cowderoy of Southwark has written a letter of introduction to the film, copies of which may be obtained for 12s. 6d. from Fr. F. J. M. Pole at the seminary.
